In Spain, the category is expanding across audiences, use cases and competitors: new specialist brands are emerging, established footwear manufacturers are developing their own lines, specialist retailers are gaining visibility, and fashion players such as Zara and Lefties are even beginning to generate demand around \u201cbarefoot + brand\u201d searches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The category is still small compared with the overall footwear market, but the signs of expansion are clear. Between August 2024 and September 2026, demand for <strong>\u201cbarefoot\u201d increased by 74.8%<\/strong>, comparing the average monthly search volume in the first six months of the period with the last six months. At the other end of the spectrum, <strong>Zapato Feroz<\/strong> is down 60% and <strong>KOOPS<\/strong> 91.6% in SEO visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Market growth therefore does not automatically translate into SEO growth. Some brands are capturing the new demand, while others are losing visibility even as the category continues to expand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"633\" height=\"467\" data-id=\"22705\" src=\"https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/indice-visibilidad-barefoot-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22705\" srcset=\"https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/indice-visibilidad-barefoot-1.png 633w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/indice-visibilidad-barefoot-1-300x221.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 633px) 100vw, 633px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, established footwear brands have already identified the opportunity and are entering the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The clearest example is <strong>MTNG Free<\/strong>. In our analysis of the barefoot vertical, 20.12% of the domain\u2019s analysed SEO traffic comes from this territory, with 92 of 169 analysed keywords ranking in the Top 10. <strong>Joma<\/strong>, despite having greater overall domain authority and visibility, has a barefoot footprint of 3.41%. <strong>Camper<\/strong>, meanwhile, stands at just 0.01%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The point is not that one brand is \u201cbetter\u201d than another. It is that <strong>the historical authority of a domain does not automatically transfer to a new category<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"405\" data-id=\"22715\" src=\"https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/e4797e43-ca89-414c-873b-252f18b0fe7f-1024x405.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22715\" srcset=\"https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/e4797e43-ca89-414c-873b-252f18b0fe7f-1024x405.png 1024w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/e4797e43-ca89-414c-873b-252f18b0fe7f-300x119.png 300w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/e4797e43-ca89-414c-873b-252f18b0fe7f-768x304.png 768w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/e4797e43-ca89-414c-873b-252f18b0fe7f-1536x608.png 1536w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/e4797e43-ca89-414c-873b-252f18b0fe7f.png 1994w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The leader changes depending on who is searching<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The keyword analysis confirms that <strong>there is no single overall SEO leader in barefoot footwear<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For women\u2019s searches, <strong>MTNG Free<\/strong> appears for all eight keywords analysed and achieves an average position of 3.5. For men, it also covers 8 out of 8 keywords, although <strong>Barefoot You achieves a better average position: 3.1 versus 4.1 for MTNG<\/strong>. In children\u2019s searches, Zapato Feroz covers 8 out of 8 queries and delivers one of the strongest overall performances in the vertical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But when we move from SEO to GEO, the reference brands change again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across our final sample of <strong>54 comparable executions (18 prompts analysed across three environments)<\/strong>, Deditos Barefoot appears in <strong>19 out of 54<\/strong>, Lejan Brand in <strong>18 out of 54<\/strong>, Zapato Feroz in <strong>11 out of 54<\/strong> and Barefoot You in <strong>10 out of 54<\/strong>. MTNG Free, despite its strong transactional SEO coverage, records <strong>0 appearances across the 54 comparable executions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-4 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"342\" data-id=\"22717\" src=\"https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/264d6a69-8e81-408e-8c20-fbe84fb26dcf-1024x342.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22717\" srcset=\"https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/264d6a69-8e81-408e-8c20-fbe84fb26dcf-1024x342.png 1024w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/264d6a69-8e81-408e-8c20-fbe84fb26dcf-300x100.png 300w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/264d6a69-8e81-408e-8c20-fbe84fb26dcf-768x257.png 768w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/264d6a69-8e81-408e-8c20-fbe84fb26dcf-1536x513.png 1536w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/264d6a69-8e81-408e-8c20-fbe84fb26dcf-2048x684.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In GEO, the user\u2019s need changes the reference brand<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fragmentation becomes even clearer when generative responses are analysed by topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vivobarefoot<\/strong> stands out for injury-free transition and men\u2019s gait-related queries; <strong>Deditos Barefoot<\/strong> for bunions and fit; <strong>Barefoot You<\/strong> for exercise and training; <strong>Zapato Feroz<\/strong> appears as a leading reference in vegan versus conventional footwear comparisons; <strong>KOOPS<\/strong> in school footwear; and <strong>Pablosky<\/strong> in content related to foot development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is therefore no single brand controlling every informational territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In GEO, leadership is distributed by intent rather than concentrated in one brand.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-5 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"342\" data-id=\"22719\" src=\"https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/36d9a39b-67a2-4bb1-adc6-24b3f1958d04-1024x342.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22719\" srcset=\"https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/36d9a39b-67a2-4bb1-adc6-24b3f1958d04-1024x342.png 1024w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/36d9a39b-67a2-4bb1-adc6-24b3f1958d04-300x100.png 300w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/36d9a39b-67a2-4bb1-adc6-24b3f1958d04-768x257.png 768w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/36d9a39b-67a2-4bb1-adc6-24b3f1958d04-1536x513.png 1536w, https:\/\/relevantgroup.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/36d9a39b-67a2-4bb1-adc6-24b3f1958d04-2048x684.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A new source of pressure: fashion retail and price<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Zara and Lefties are particularly interesting because they are neither barefoot specialists nor traditional footwear manufacturers: they are <strong>fashion retailers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their entry shows that the category is beginning to move beyond specialist channels. Searches for <strong>\u201czapatillas barefoot baratas\u201d increased by 57% over twelve months<\/strong>, and specific branded queries such as \u201czapatillas barefoot Zara\u201d and \u201czapatillas barefoot Lefties\u201d are already appearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This does not mean that low-cost products will replace technical barefoot brands. It means the market is beginning to incorporate <strong>new price points, distribution models and levels of brand awareness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Specialist retailers and expert sources are gaining influence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Specialist retailers have a significant presence in GEO, with <strong>47 appearances<\/strong> in the sample, ahead of international pure players and established footwear brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But appearing is not enough. Becoming a source that generative systems can reuse also matters. Deditos Barefoot records <strong>27 citations<\/strong>, Zapato Feroz and Barefoot You 16 each, Lejan 13 and 5Dedos 10. Podiatry websites also feature among the most frequently cited sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key point is that <strong>useful content, identifiable experts, external mentions and third-party validation broaden the signals that generative systems can reuse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A growing category, but no overall winner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The main finding of the study is not the identification of one winning brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is precisely the opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Barefoot footwear is growing faster than its market leaders are consolidating.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Leadership changes depending on the audience, search intent and environment. Some brands dominate specific searches; others achieve greater generative visibility; specialist retailers capture comparison and recommendation journeys; and expert sources become increasingly important when AI systems need evidence to support their recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Leading in Google does not necessarily mean leading in AI.
